What makes a jacket a cafe racer
Three things, and they haven't changed since the shape came out of the Ace Cafe in the early sixties: a short band collar that sits flat against the neck, a centre zip that runs dead straight, and a body cut close enough to stay put at speed. Riders wanted nothing that could catch wind or snag. What they ended up with is the least fussy leather jacket ever designed, which is exactly why it still works over a shirt on a Tuesday.
Every jacket here is 100% real lambskin. No faux, no PU, no coated splits. Lambskin is what lets a close cut stay comfortable — it gives where you move and holds its line everywhere else, and it gets better looking the more you wear it. Buy one properly and you stop replacing jackets.
How it wears against the other shapes
The cafe racer is the quiet one. Put it next to a men's leather biker jacket and the difference is obvious — no asymmetric zip, no lapels, none of the hardware. Against a men's leather bomber jacket it's leaner through the waist and shoulder, and it doesn't carry the ribbed hem. A men's leather trucker jacket sits boxier and buttons rather than zips.
Which one you want depends on how you dress the rest of the way. The cafe racer is the pick if your wardrobe leans clean — dark denim, plain knits, a shirt with the collar out. It reads sharp without announcing anything, and that's why it moves from a meeting to dinner without a change.
Colours worth knowing about
Black is the safe first jacket and the one most people wear to death. A men's brown leather jacket is warmer and easier with navy and grey than black is. A men's cognac leather jacket ages the most visibly — the finish deepens at the elbows and cuffs, and after a couple of winters no two look the same. We also run the racer in burgundy, blue, green, beige and camel if you already own a black one.
Getting the fit right
This shape is meant to sit close. Measure your chest and match it to the size guide rather than going by the label you usually buy. If you plan to wear a thick knit underneath, email us and we will confirm the right size before you order. Ordering is free to return for 30 days, so it's worth trying the size you measure into first.
Lambskin needs almost nothing: keep it off a radiator, let it dry on its own if it gets wet, condition it once or twice a year. The care guide covers the rest.
Looking at other styles? The full men's leather jacket range has everything, or go straight to men's leather blazers if you need something more formal.

Our jackets are designed with a modern, tailored fit. We publish exact chest measurements in centimetres for every size — measure your chest and match it against our Size Guide rather than going by the label you usually buy. Fit varies by style, so if your measurement sits between two sizes, or you plan to layer over a jumper or fleece, reach us via our contact page and we will advise on that specific jacket before you order.
